Welcome to The Write Methods

Mitch has spent years refining his own approach to writing for wellness, which integrates therapeutic and expressive writing, journaling, creative writing, and meditation. While Mitch engages in writing as a means of self-expression, personal growth, and pleasure, it was his use of writing to manage chronic pain that ultimately led him to the Therapeutic Writing Institute, where he has undergone extensive training.

With nearly two decades of experience as a writing professor, Mitch holds a PhD in Writing Composition and is certified in the Journal to the Self and Pennebaker methods. His deep academic and creative expertise, coupled with his specialized training in expressive writing, provides him with a comprehensive understanding of writing practices that is rare in the field.

Outside of his professional life, Mitch is passionate about the outdoors, backpacking, and has training in primitive survival skills. He also has a background in combat sports but no longer trains officially. His approach to life is one that demands mental, physical, and spiritual discipline.

Mitch understands that writing as a tool for personal growth and healing is a life practice. Simple, yet rarely easy, it requires commitment and consistency, but its benefits can be transformative.
